The short version

This website, merchella.com, uses only essential cookies. They are needed to sign you in to the Command admin area and keep your account secure.

We do not use advertising cookies or analytics cookies on this website, and we do not let third parties set tracking cookies here.

We do count visits to our pages, but in a way that uses no cookies and no local storage. See "How we count visits" below.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files a website stores in your browser. They let the site remember things between pages or visits, such as the fact that you are signed in.

Similar technologies, such as local storage in your browser, work in much the same way. In this policy, "cookies" covers these too.

The cookies we use

Sign-in cookies

Keep you signed in to Command as you move between pages, and sign you out when your session ends.

Security cookies

Support 2-step sign-in and help protect your account and our site from misuse, such as forged requests.

Preference storage

May remember simple settings you choose in Command, such as interface choices, so you do not have to set them each time.

These are strictly necessary for the service you have asked for. Under UK law (the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, or PECR), strictly necessary cookies do not need your consent, so we do not show a cookie banner on this website.

If you only browse our public pages and do not sign in, you may not receive any of these cookies at all.

How we count visits

To see which pages are read and which websites send us visitors, merchella.com counts visits itself. A small beacon on each page sends us the page viewed, the domain of the referring website, and a visitor code.

• The visitor code is a one-way hash of your IP address and browser details that changes every day.
• Nothing is stored on your device: no cookies and no local storage.
• Your IP address is not stored for this purpose, and the code cannot be linked across days.
• No third-party analytics service is involved, and visit records are kept for 13 months.
• Creator links (merchella.com/go/…) are counted the same way: the click is counted, you are sent on to our page, and no cookie is set.

Our Privacy policy explains this in more detail, including our lawful basis. You can block the beacon with a browser setting or content blocker without affecting how the site works.

What we do not use

• No advertising or retargeting cookies.
• No analytics cookies, such as Google Analytics, on merchella.com.
• No social media tracking pixels.
• No selling or sharing of cookie data with advertisers.

If we ever want to add non-essential cookies to this website, we will update this policy first and ask for your consent before setting them.

Cookies on merchants' shops

Shops built on Merchella are run by their own merchants, not by us. Each shop can use its own cookies, for example to keep a shopper's basket, remember their country, or measure where sales came from.

• Merchants choose and control the cookie banner and cookie settings on their own shop.
• Some features, such as sending sales to Google Ads or Microsoft Ads, may need the shopper's consent. It is the merchant's job to set up consent correctly for their shop.
• If you are a shopper with a question about cookies on a shop, please check that shop's own cookie or privacy notice, or contact the shop.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy if the cookies we use change. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
